Owner and Instructor
Harry Haney, H. Haney Golf Academy owner and instructor, began his golf career as a junior and won his club championship at the ripe old age of 16. A graduate of Wingate College and Georgia Southern, one summer he assisted his brother with his junior golfers and enjoyed teaching the game. As he watched the long hours his brother clocked as a PGA Club Professional, he decided to go the corporate route after college.
He played tournament golf as time permitted. His love of the game returned him to teaching and 2004 he worked under PGA instructor Mike Wine out of Nashville, TN.
In 2008, as a member of the United States Golf Teachers Federation, he opened H. Haney Golf Academy in Columbia and works with professional and amateur golfers. With a passion for growing and giving back to the game, he launched after school programs in Richland and Lexington Counties to introduce kids to golf and its life lessons. Additionally, he operates summer junior camps and junior golf programs every Saturday.
He is a member of the Positive Coaches Alliance and is nationally listed as a Certified US Kids Golf Instructor.
Wayne started playing junior golf tournaments while growing up on Hilton Head Island and developed a passion for the game while taking lessons from PGA professional Bert Yancey. After a successful high school career, he attended Spartanburg Methodist on a golf scholarship and graduated from Clemson University. After college, he worked as an instructor at Shipyard Plantation. His last Head Professional job was at Timberlake Country Club.
Today, he is one of the H. Haney Golf Academy Head and Lead Instructors where he teaches all skill levels. He has a strong passion for teaching junior golfers and introducing them to the game at an early age.
